ST. CECILY (22.11.) The legend tells that the Church of Trastevere, where the mortal remains of Cecilia rested since the year 820 when they were transferred there from the catacombs by Pope Pasquale I, was built entirely with her donations. The date of her death is uncertain. It is thought she was beheaded together with her betrothed Valeriano and his brother Tiburzio. Her memory has been honoured in the Church of Trastevere the 22nd November ever since the year 545. She is the patron saint of sacred music, organists, organ makers, lutists, singers, musicians and poets.
